The fall frisbee season has officially come to an end! H-B’s girl-matching Pandamonium team had an amazing season. While fall play is generally seen as lower-stakes, the team had lots of fun.
“It’s been really fun, we lost a pretty significant amount of players last year, but it’s exceeded expectations so far,” says Eddy Drake (’27).
While the team saw less enrollment than prior years, it still welcomed many new and returning players. Niittisha Choudhary, the team’s primary senior, was out with a knee injury, but remained dedicated to keeping players’ spirits high. In addition, Pandamonium welcomed several new freshmen, two eighth graders, and this author!
In addition to APS games, Pandamonium attended two tournaments. YULA Fall Fling, which happened on October 5th and 6th in Reston, was the first of the season. While the team had to forfeit one game due to a lack of players, they still emerged third overall.
Coconut Classic took place a month later, on the 2nd and 3rd of November. An away tournament in Freehold, New Jersey, Coconut featured teams from across the northeast. H-B finished second overall, a result that the players were thrilled with. H-B also scored well in spirit points, with one exception: “Springfield, we’re coming for you.” Eddy says, half-joking. “They gave us two because they were upset that we beat them. Everyone else gave us a four or above.”
Overall, the season was an amazing one for coaches and players. As a new participant, I can attest that everyone was so welcoming, patient and kind. As Eddy concluded, “Frisbee’s just fun, and the community is great. It’s a really fun sport, and I think everyone should give it a chance.”
