Did you know that the month of March is Women’s History Month?
The idea of Women’s History Month started in 1978 in Santa Rosa, California. The event got so much recognition that it reached the desk of the president Jimmy Carter, and he made a presidential proclamation. It started as National Women’s Week. In 1987, Congress made a law to make it a month every year.
Every year, The National Women’s History Alliance publishes a theme. The theme for this year is “Moving Forward Together! Women Educating & Inspiring Generations”. Some events that you can participate in are a special art tour at the National Art Museum, and the Women’s History Month Celebration. H-B is doing an Equity block on Thursday celebrating Women’s history month and here is a link to the sign up genius to pick an activity.
Since it’s Women’s history month, celebrate women around you and go to some events!
