As some people might know, Maggie, who is the librarian at H-B is retiring. She’s been working at H-B for nine and a half years after previously working at Thomas Jefferson High School in Fairfax County. Maggie has spent the past 12 months extending her 60th birthday through adventures and celebrating loved ones. Her last day is Friday, January 24. She chose to end on Friday because it is close to her birthday, which is on Sunday the 26.
Her son is living in Rome for a short time and Maggie will travel to spend time there while he is still living there. She has plans to be in Italy for all of April and return (to Italy) in the fall.
She is also enrolled at George Mason University and will study art history and science communications to potentially become a reference librarian at a university.
Her favorite thing about H-B is that it’s a place where you can ask questions and work together for smart solutions. When asked if she had anything more to say to the kids at H-B, she wanted to share words of wisdom: “Nothing will shape your path more than the questions you ask. Stay curious.” Maggie also wanted to add that she appreciates Jesse and Rocio’s and Reina’s magnificent help during this transition time.
As for new hires for staffing the library, Graham was asked. He replied, “We knew Maggie was going to retire so we put a form on the APS website and will interview people who apply further.” And Casey added, “Interviews start next week!”
