My bucket list: international summer destinations

Summer is the best time to take a break, travel, and see the world. With school done and fewer responsibilities, many families take trips. This time of the year is the perfect opportunity to immerse yourself in new cultures, eat new foods, and look at scenery you’ve only seen online. 

In my personal opinion, ideal summer destination spots are Japan, Italy, and Switzerland. Not only are they popular, but they are unique and live up to the tourist hype. I have yet to travel to any of these places, but they are at the top on my bucket list of international places to visit. 

Italy is a popular summer destination for many reasons. The weather is perfect that time of year and the land is filled with beautiful scenery. Historical landmarks in cities such as Rome offer many opportunities to study history. Here in the U.S., we marvel at buildings that are over 200 hundred years old. Imagine seeing the Colosseum, which is nearly two thousand. 

The Colosseum, Trevi Fountain, and Tower of Pisa are on my to-see list when it comes to visiting these ancient sites! Additionally, Italy offers many popular and delicious dishes such as pizza, pasta, gelato, and this is the country most popular dishes originated from.

Japan is another amazing destination, and people from all over the world go year-round to visit. There are both traditional culture and modern city vibes, so it’s the perfect place to get the best of two worlds. 

Tokyo is known for its fast paced lifestyle, advanced technology, anime, shopping, and skyscrapers. On the other hand, places like Kyoto and Shikoku Island are famous for their traditional lifestyle and beautiful nature. There are lots of traditional temples, shrines, and cultural landmarks which can be explored. Japanese language and culture is also very unique and many people admire it.

Finally, Switzerland is a beautiful country to see as well. Out of these three countries, I would say that Switzerland has the most beautiful scenery I hope to visit one day. The Swiss Alps are truly breathtaking and there are incredible views there. Mountains, lakes, and green landscapes are perfect for outdoor activities such as hiking and sightseeing. This place is extremely beautiful and relaxing.
