At H-B Woodlawn, the only afterschool sport offered is Ultimate Frisbee. If you want to play any other sport, you have to play it at your home school. However in P.E., you can play a variety of sports but which one is H-B middle schoolers’ favorite?
When we asked an 8th grader at H-B, who plays Ultimate Frisbee about their opinions on sports at H-B they mentioned their favorite sport was football because they get to throw stuff at their friend. Their least favorite sport was speedball because it was too many sports combined and “so stupid.” They said that no other sports should be offered here, however, if one was going to be offered it should be volleyball because many boys and girls at our school play.
Leah Meder is a seventh grader at H-B and she says, “my favorite sport is volleyball because I really like the tournaments, and I play a lot outside of school and I am pretty good at it.” She also says, “Speedball is my least favorite sport because it is a mix of three sports in one and it is very chaotic.” Leah thinks that we should add a soccer or volleyball team to our school sports.
Vivian McBride is a 6th grader at H-B and her favorite gym sport is basketball because, “all the other ones are boring.” Her favorite sport is softball and she wishes that we could offer softball as a school sport. Vivian’s least favorite sport is football because, “I don’t know how to throw a football and all the boys go crazy.”
Overall, most middle schoolers dislike P.E sports because they say are too chaotic. Instead most said they’d like whatever sport they happen to play outside of school to be added to H-B as an after-school sport here.
