The H-B Field will open one day.... we hope!
Assistant principal Graham McBride has announced that the turf field behind the Heights Building will not be opening this year…or any time soon. Due to countless delays, the new goal date will be February 2032.
“As much as we want to finish the field as quickly as possible, we just don’t have the resources to finish it within our timeline,” reports McBride. “Between improper gate hardware and the fact that the concrete is bouncy like a trampoline, it’s going to be a long process before it’s done.”
This news shocks many students and teachers, especially because the original estimated completion date was supposed to be this Spring. “I’m just really disappointed. I was really looking forward to playing soccer on the field with my friends,” says Margaret, a seventh grader at H-B.
It seems the first students who will get to play on the field are current 5th graders. “It’s so annoying! My younger brother will get to play on it, but I won’t be able to?” says seventh grader Leah.
“Sadly, we underestimated the vastness of this specific project,” comments Graham, citing concerns that the turf has taken on the consistency of quicksand.
Hopefully, the future students of H-B will (eventually) be able to appreciate the finished product of the field!
Happy April Fools Day from the staff of the Current!
