The new H-B building opened in 2019, and is already falling apart. Earlier last week, a student reported that a part of the building had fallen out of the ceiling in the stairwell on the 3rd floor, and this was just the beginning.
Over the course of the last few days, bits and pieces of the building have fallen apart, such as the wall that separates seventh grade science teacher Karly Lynch’s classroom from the storage area next door.
Later, Christy Gill, the ninth grade English teacher, saw her classroom collapse onto the new field – further delaying an already delayed project to an estimated completion date of 2032. Sydney, an eighth grader, said about the delayed field opening, “I’m sad the only year we had a field was a sand pit and everyone got sand in their eyes.”
When asked, assistant principal Graham McBride said, “Of course, this is a safety hazard. As of now we are working to temporarily send students back to their home school while construction personnel repair the damage. Hopefully, we can be up and running by next school year.”
