While the fall interscholastic frisbee season is a great time for new players to learn the fundamentals and teams to attend one or two low-stakes tournaments, the spring ultimate season is another level. H-B’s open and girl-matching teams are gearing up for an exciting season featuring three tournaments.
YULA Invite (March)

YULA (the Youth Ultimate League of Arlington) has hosted an annual tournament since 2018. YULA Invite, which is set to take place on March 22nd and 23rd, hosts up to 40 teams across two divisions: girl-matching and open. Teams travel from across the East Coast to compete on turf fields across Arlington. This tournament is infamous for its horrific weather – more specifically, for the high winds that make the game much more difficult.
Spring Fling (April)

DEVYL Ultimate’s Spring Fling tournament is happening on April 26th and 27th in Freehold, New Jersey. This tournament follows a similar format as Invite and also features 40 teams, including competitors from Stuyvesant, Bronx Science, Strath Haven, Lower Merion, and Jackson-Reed high schools.
Virginia State Championships (May)
The Virginia State Championship ultimate tournament will be held on the 17th and 18th of May. This tournament will take place in Fredericksburg and brings together teams from across the state and DC. Marking the end of the season, States is a team’s last hurrah and can inspire fierce (albeit respectful) competition.
Frisbee kids live for the spring season. Between tournaments, warm weather, and getting closer to your teammates, ultimate in the spring is unmatched in its excitement, competition, and spirit. With three tournaments (and many shenanigans) on the docket, H-B’s frisbee players are up for an eventful spring!
